This passing of my second parent almost 38 years later is the oddity of my life. Growing up with no father and my mom’s mom being the disciplinarian and authority in my life was my childhood. That odd upbringing is why I respect women’s power to make rules and be the leader so much now.

I see the ability to be a strong willed, ethical and just person in the one I found to make a life with soon. She and I both see my mom as a heroin that raised us 3 boys to be great just and caring…

Thank you Farida for the shout out with all these writiers. I am not on their lever, but thank you!! 😁❤️🤘

Dwelling on cancer never is a place for the living to be in for too, as it only leads to more sorrow, suicide and/or worse thoughts and actions. Moving on to more of our lives and accepting that we did all we can do and should do. Truth and reality reveals that we all will face the deaths of our parents.

The tragic end of a child is when the reverse occurs as accidents or disease take a child from a parent early in the child’s life. Naturally, these circumstances we face with our mother’s cancer is how it should…

I am not a robot and have feelings about losing my hero, icon and beloved Mom to cancer. Family and outside observers might see that I am not crying or showing my emotions visually. Yet, I assure you that I do feel the turmoil.

Peace in my mind and emotions only come from a history of dealing with death and horrible health outcomes in my own life. Losing my Father at 2 months, dear Granny at 6, more recently my career dreams to MS, or multiple sclerosis. …

Our primary care physician, or PCP, raised the fact that ovarian cancer is rarely caught before it is too late in my appointment with her. She’s been my Mother’s and mine PCP for the last few years. Mom’s every six months’ appointment comes right after mine usually.

I messaged her months ago when mom became bed ridden and unable to function as “normal.” So, she knew very well that our family was concerned and knew more than usual aches and stomach pains were her issue then. Our doctor said that mom must see she needs attention before she can intervene.

Coping with life while your Mom is dealing with cancer is difficult as you might assume. The current stimulus money led me to pay for a service that I will detail some later. I unfortunately sent the money for the service to PayPal, as I was assuming that was how I was going to pay for it. My savings account is now over-drafted as a result.

Haste to pay the bill for the service made must waste and angst. Waiting for the money to clear to PayPal then putting it back will take about a week. …

Unhealthy eating seems to be my choice of poison to cope with mom’s cancer, but I stopped once I saw what I was doing. Chain eating hard orange cream flavored candy was that unhealthy choice. Yes, Eric Griggs noted my habit, kudos to him, and called me out on it instantly.

However, I was still in denial and insisted it would not be harmful as my blood glucose readings were ok. Little did I realize that my blood glucose numbers might be okay, but d@mn were my blood pressure and pulse readings threatening a heart attack. …

Soon we will know the OB-GYN’s, or Obstetrics and gynaecology or obstetrics and gynecology, in charge of my mother’s uncontrolled ovarian cancer plan to remedy it. The cancer center caring for her sees that it all began as ovarian cancer, so it should be addressed by a doctor of specialty. The oncologist on call went over the issues of her current situation, which is as bad as we knew already.

That restatement of facts was a downer to recap all the issues she faces, yet we are at the exact place to address and treat the ailments she’s facing. …

Cancer can destroy or inspire togetherness and rebuilding of life and family as we endure the perils of the illness. For the most part, we are binding together tighter than ever before while the matriarch of our family fights cancer. It’s been a harmonious push for her life thus far, aside from a disagreement about what is best for her in the moment with the hospitalist.

That was the right before her transfer to the cancer center she is in now in Tyler, Texas. It seems her lessons of all for one and one for family have been well learned…
