I changed my name officially for Islam and the ability to marry my fiancé. Looking over the massive amounts of metaphorical paperwork and hoops I had to jump through was maddening. The court order that I be officially known as my new name is dated as “Filed” February 10, yet the Social Security Administration, SSA, took until August 19th to reflect that change.
