Diabetic Cyborg Life 2/24: Conviction not Likely
Cowards and followers are all that is left in the GOP now after 40 years of lies, tricks and racism. Bigotry and division are all that benefits the “Party of Lincoln” and more. Reagan began much of the racism in the “welfare queens” and the huge tax cuts for the wealthy.
That so-called “revolution” fueled my division and resentment that white people were missing out on things the “other,” poor brown people, got because they needed it. Those resentment filled white people cared not that the poor NEED that help to survive, they just wanted some of what “they” got.
“Othering” people that are their fellow citizens is a common tactic that white supremacists and nationalist groups use to gain power. Making people follow them with simple tricks and simple ideas that appeal to the uneducated are their common tricks that turn fellow citizens on one another. At times, I feel I am watching a lesson in a grad school class on how to destroy a functional democracy.
Destroying the once beloved “City upon the hill,” the Reagan himself used in his Election Eve Address “A Vision for America.” That’s been Vladimir Putin’s dream since that fall of the USSR.
