Diabetic Cyborg Life 4/03: Life is More Real Than Ever
Early predictions of the toll this illness will have on the US seemed to be hopeful at best. The news of the many failures of containment and flattening the curve mean we must consider doing things that many see as un-American. Tracking, holding and monitoring people are not usually what we face, yet we must as elected leaders fail us at all levels.
The estimates are that hundreds of thousands might die from exposure and failure to simply stay put as ordered. That idea that it will never happen here or to me is beyond a failure in hubris now. What was “normal” might never be real again, as remember “normal” airports before September 2001?
That time of walking people to the gate for a flight and lax security at airport terminal gates are things of history now. We can all just hope and pray that we do not end up thinking the same kind of thoughts about life before the 2020 COVID-19 outbreak. So, things still are tropes of life and existence from past times of illness.
