Diabetic Cyborg Life 9/07: Existing is my job

Simply existing and being is a hard job when you’ve got diseases that your body caused and are waging a war against yourself. My autoimmune system is suicidal and the conscious part of me is 100% going in the opposite direction. A pancreas that can’t make insulin or do much else correct is the cause of my diabetes, of course, and likely chronic diarrhea.

An enzyme or secretion of some kind is not as it should be. A crazy expensive supplement can help, but I will just have to pray insurance will cover it. The original thing that drove me to finally see a doctor over 16 years ago was chronic diarrhea. Yes, the rapid uncontrollable weight loss too, but mostly the chronic diarrhea.

Now, a lifetime, teenagers anyway, of health care diaries later, I might be able to say I know what is causing my chronic diarrhea. I will have to wait until I get the supplements, yet there is a chance. As Han Solo always needed a chance, so do I, to live my life anyway.

Whatever the odds are, I will fight on and try to live a full life with all that entails.
