The usual congressional map redrawing is meaning the usual stealing of people’s power to make a difference. Gerrymandering is a practice that has been a thorn in the side of democracy for centuries. Yet, with the new round of redistricting it’s a bigger threat than ever with the current fascist GOP/Republican Party at the wheel.

Having the House majority means they have the power to rubber stamp the racist maps racist state legislatures make now. Making majority minority districts that hamper the power of minorities, usually African American’s power to change their states. The usual retort to Democrats broaching this issue is that they do it too.

Sadly, historically that is true, but the GOP has always been more cruel with lines. Making a state have only one majority-minority district means the votes of minorities mean less than white voters’ votes.

Like the current fight in Louisiana, they make one majority-minority district when demographically speaking.

While they are a majority white state yet have the sink intentional discrimination.

Like Alabama, these old South states are attempting to let the South rise again, as was promised by many old confederates.
